All art on this site is created by Melissa Dubois Belanger, who goes by Mel B to keep it short and sweet.

While struggling with mental health, I turned to painting as a form of therapy. In the years that followed, I became very passionate about the arts and dedicated most of my free time to practicing my craft. Painting gave me space to clear my mind; allowing for emotional growth, stress relief and stimulated my sense of creativity. In creating art, I found a way to overcome my mental health struggles by gaining a whole new appreciation for life.

It wasn’t until I started creating commissions for people that I saw how much value my art could have on others. It inspired me to keep creating. One of my biggest goals in life is to share with others how incredibly healing art can be.

I like to paint with different values and hues to create high-contrast paintings. I mix light and dark colors to represent the ying and yang, to highlight the important role they each play in staying balanced.

I am a self-taught multidisciplinary artist. My work thus far consists of mainly watercolor and acrylic medium.
