Xylem sap

from CA$35.00

As the temperate warms up in spring, the trees reconvert their starch into glucose and maple trees start to secrete/excrete sap. Sap is an offering to us by mother nature herself, it is packed with vitamins and minerals to help humans and animals get through tough cold winters. The trees take care of us, so in return we must treat it with respect and be gracious of the gift it bestows upon us. As they offer us an abundance of nutrients, it’s important to recognize our responsibility in helping sustain the trees. It’s in this reciprocity that we find a harmonic balance between ourselves and nature.

Maple tapping was first discovered by the Indigenous people of Turtle Island (North America). When settlers came onto what is now called North America, the indigenous people taught them this cultural and sacred practise.
